Starry Christmas: Dazzling light displays in Carmen town

By Leo Udtohan

Nothing signals the start of the holidays quite like the municipality of Carmen in Bohol when it’s all brilliantly lit up in a spectacular display that fills the air with the season’s warmth and cheer.

No less than Carmen Mayor Che Toribio-Delos Reyes took the lead in lighting up the Christmas display held at the town's plaza last Dec. 10. Also present were Vice Gov. Tita Baja and Board Member Nathaniel Binlod.

The plaza turned into a dazzling wonderland brimming with delightful surprises in every corner, inviting everyone to experience the wonder of Christmas.

The display had drawn residents and visitors to see the replica of the famous Eiffel Tower dotted with fairy lights.

The human size "belen" (nativity scene) was so eye-catching that many people took pictures of it.

The display also featured giant cups, mushrooms, Advent candles, reindeers and giraffes.

Mayor Che, in her message, highlighted the importance and essence of Christmas, a time of joy for all Filipinos and an opportunity to extend compassion to those in need.

"Let us celebrate and enjoy Christmas. It’s the unity and togetherness that is the most important," she said.

She added that the Christmas display at the plaza prepared by the municipal government is a place that enables people to experience the true gift of the season—the gift of joy, giving, and gathering.

The evening was capped with CenterStage Band serenading the audience.

Over the years, Carmen has built a delightful tradition of creating distinct and memorable holiday experiences for everyone. And this year will certainly be no exception, as shown by its kickoff festivities and the exciting events it has lined up for the season.
